Wheat Ridge is the core
Wheat Ridge is a city of 32,398 people (2020 census) covering about 9.5 square miles in Jefferson County. Our shop address is 7400 W 38th Ave, and most calls come from within a short drive of the main corridor. Clear Creek runs east and northeast through the city, I-70 and Kipling Street meet here, and Crown Hill Lake lies in the south-central part.
Within the city, we take calls from Fruitdale, Applewood, Ward Station, Clear Creek Crossing and The Corners at Wadsworth and 35th. If you live in newer construction or a multifamily building, the same line applies, and a stack or riser problem can usually be described over the phone.
Kestrel Pond, West Lake, Tabor Lake and Prospect Lake are all inside the city limits too. If your yard backs onto one of these waters, mention it when you call, because the plumber may ask about drainage and where a sump discharge can safely go.
Not sure what you need?
Describe the problem on the 24/7 line and we will point you to the right service.
Arvada, directly to the north
Arvada borders Wheat Ridge on the north and has its own page. Read about plumber service in Arvada for the local water and sewer mix, the permit rules and the Arvada ZIP codes we serve.
If you live near the city line, your bill will show which provider supplies your water. Use that, not the city name, to decide which district to ask.
Arvada is a few miles from our shop, and the page covers its own permit rules, since the city asks that the contractor on a permit be registered with it.

ZIP codes
Five ZIP codes touch Wheat Ridge: 80033, 80034, 80212, 80214 and 80215. The 80033 ZIP is the standard Wheat Ridge code, while 80034 is a PO Box ZIP. Our Arvada coverage includes 80002, 80003, 80004, 80005 and 80007.
If your ZIP does not appear here, call anyway. A ZIP is only a mail routing code, and the dispatcher will ask for your street address to confirm coverage.
The ZIP codes 80212, 80214 and 80215 reach across the Wheat Ridge border into neighboring areas, so the street address matters more than the code.
Water and sewer: ask your district
Wheat Ridge is a limited-service city, so water, fire, sanitation and trash do not come from the city. The city lists four water providers: Denver Water, Consolidated Mutual, Valley Water and the Wheat Ridge Water District. The district buys its water from Denver Water and covers most of Wheat Ridge east of Independence Court, plus Mountain View and Lakeside.
For sewer, the Fruitdale Sanitation District covers the northwest part of Wheat Ridge. Wheat Ridge Sanitation District and East Jefferson County Sanitation District also have Wheat Ridge mailing addresses. We cannot tell you which one serves your house, so look at your bills and call the district listed there.
Ask one more question while you have them: where does district responsibility end and your own sewer lateral begin? The answer affects who handles a sewer line repair and who pays.

Common questions
Do you serve all of Wheat Ridge?
Yes. We take calls across the city, including Fruitdale, Applewood, Ward Station, Clear Creek Crossing and the Corners. If you are unsure whether your address qualifies, call and the dispatcher will check.
Is the emergency line the same for every town?
Yes. One number covers Wheat Ridge, Arvada and the nearby towns listed here, and it is answered 24 hours a day.
How do I find out which water provider I have?
Read your water bill. The provider name is printed on it. The city of Wheat Ridge does not say which provider serves each address, so the bill is the reliable source.
Who is responsible for my sewer line?
It depends on your district and where its collection system ends. Ask the district that serves you. The Fruitdale Sanitation District, for example, cleans, inspects, repairs and replaces its collection system but does not publish a clear boundary with the homeowner's lateral.
Do I need to call 811 before a repair?
If the work involves digging, yes. Colorado law requires you to contact Colorado 811 at least three business days before you dig, whatever the size of the project. The plumber can tell you who makes the call.
Do you cover Denver and Lakewood?
We take calls from both, along with Edgewater, Golden, Applewood, Mountain View and Lakeside. Call with your address and the dispatcher will confirm.
